If you want to walk where it’s stunningly beautiful, then the Cinque Terre is the place for you! Azure sea and lush countryside, interesting architecture and of course – fabulous restaurants with great food.
The Cinque Terre, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It consists of five beautiful medieval hillside villages on the Ligurian coast of Italy. Monterosso has a promenade with oleanders, bougainvilleas and palm trees. Picturesque Vernazza has beautiful archways and balconies. Corniglia is perched highest above the sea. Manarola has multi coloured houses perched on top of a huge rock rising from the sea. Riomaggiore has three or four storey houses perched on rocky, steep ground. Two of the villages are registered as among the most beautiful small villages of Italy. It’s just a joy to wander in their quaint alleyways, streets and passages.
All the villages are connected by the spectacular paths that the locals have used for centuries. The cute local trains and water taxis are a great way to get around. There are virtually no cars in sight!
With locally caught fresh seafood, fabulously fresh produce, pesto and olive oil, the food is excellent! You can indulge to the max knowing that you will get plenty of exercise the next day!
The house wines are always very good and of course you can’t forget the limoncello – Yum!
After five days of walking in this fabulous location, you will leave the Cinque Terre feeling happy, healthy and relaxed; you’ll want to do it all again next year!
