The Cinque Terre in Liguria, Italy is a truly stunning destination and a Women’s Holidays favourite.
Women’s Holidays recently ventured to the Cinque Terre for a hiking holiday. It was a lovely time in such a sensational location!
Many of us were infrequent hikers and initially the steep cliffs can look a bit daunting. However there was no need to worry as our Guide Yvonne has led us through these paths many times before. By the end of the week, we all felt totally confident and capable. The days began with a fabulous selection of breakfast dishes at our locally run Hotel in Levanto. There was no need to worry about the calories as we knew we would be walking them off along the coastal paths.
Each day was a different route between the five gorgeous villages that make up The Cinque Terre – Moneterosso,Vernazza, Corniglia, Manorola and Riomaggiore. Until very recently the only way that people could get to these five villages clinging to the dramatic coastline was on foot or by boat. We took a boat trip along the coast to Portovenere one afternoon, which was fantastic. It was a favourite of many poets such as Byron and Keats. You could see why – it is a stunning location!
The Ligurian coastline is stunning and many wildflowers were blooming at this time of year. Each day ended with dinner at a local Osteria or Trattoria with our lovely group of women. As usual the traditional Ligurian sea food and pasta dishes were delicious. The local wines were excellent too!
We were truly spoilt with perfect weather, fab food and a great group of women. This really was a special week, something I’ll look forward to again in 2019. See some of our photos from the trip and keep up to date with our new trips on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/bushwise.co.nz/
It truly was a Women’s Holidays GO GIRL experience!
